Read It, Done That, Now I’m No Man

After I’d read the comedy book skiing in italy and how much fun it is, even when you fall down repeatedly, I read the book Yes Man by Danny Wallace. My conclusion was that Yes, saying Yes is a very good idea. But it’s not a great idea. All it does (like in the book) is get you in to trouble. Yes, there are some wicked adventures to be had by saying Yes to everything, but let me tell you something–There are also some good times to be had by saying No!

I’ve got numerous examples to back this up, so don’t go thinking that I don’t know my stuff and I haven’t got a point. I’ve done research don’t you know. Take last week for example. My friends had called and asked if I wanted to go to the cinema. I was on the verge of saying Yes! When I suddenly thought No, I always say Yes. Why don’t I upset the balance and see what happens?

And that was it: from that moment the scales tipped and…I became No Man.

Seriously, being a No Man is great. Why? Because every time you say No to one thing, you get the chance to do something else you haven’t done for ages. That’s why! So, in the case of not going to the cinema, guess what I did instead? Yes, people. I went out in to the garden and did some stuff there. And it was brilliant. I now have a brand new luscious-looking lawn to show for it. Much better than seeing a thrilling blockbuster movie like Avatar!

Obviously I know I can’t keep on saying No. There will come a point when I have no choice but to say Yes. But, until that day comes, I am enjoying myself. Being a No Man can be the most fun you can have with your clothes on, let me tell you.
