A Typical Day With Three children

I am a stay at home mom of three boys. Their ages are 12, 3 and 1 years old. The are full of life and joy, running around dreaming of growing up quickly. My middle ones current game is driving up and down the hall in his imaginary truck delivering red diesel to the different rooms. The eldest has long since grown past that kind of thing, but he still adds his fair share to the house mayhem! As you can see, I definitely have my hands full all the time. My typical day starts at around 6:30am and doesn’t stop until around 9:00pm. My children are really fun to be around but they do take a lot of work. Even so, I love them all the same.

When the alarm clock sounds in the morning (which is usually my oldest son getting ready for school), I wake up and make my coffee. At this time, my 3 year old is now getting up. I turn on the TV for him while I make sure that my oldest son is all set and ready to leave for school. My husband brings him in the mornings.

Once the two of them leave in the morning, I grab a cup of coffee and sit down to my computer to check email. Soon enough my 1 year wakes up and I go and get him from his crib, make him a bottle of milk and sit him down to a run of Blues Clues (along with my 3 year old). So, as I was saying, I sit down at my computer and begin checking my email and getting ready to work (I also work from home).

My 3 year old at this point decides that he is hungry. So, I get up and pop a couple pieces of toast in the toaster or fry an egg depending on what he feels like eating that day. I sit down at my computer after I serve breakfast to again, begin working and my 1 year old has just thrown down his bottle and begins to shake his swing vigorously back and forth to the point the swing is beginning to tip (the swing is only used for a quick bottle). So, I get back up and run over to him, grab him out of the swing and plop him on the ground with toys and his brother.

The two of them begin to play and all of a sudden BOOM! My 1 year old ends up on the floor after my 3 year old pushes him. I get up and divert their attention to something better and proceed on to working on my computer. Within about 10 minutes I have my 1 year old tugging at my legs crying. Well, you know what this means, it is time to eat. So I get up and whip up breakfast for him and feed him. I then set him down after he is full and let him play with his older brother while I try to get some work done.

Within 5 to 10 minutes they are going at it again, BOOM! My 1 year old is on the floor again crying because my 3 year old pushed him. I get up from my work and go over to the boys and again, divert their attention. This goes on and on through out the day while in between my 10 minutes of work here and 10 minutes of work there. Nap time is at 12:30pm until 2:30pm where I get a chance to shower, take care of my body skin care needs and put on some make up. Then I then go to pick up my 13 year old from school. I come home and and spend some time with my boys, playing games for awhile until it is time to make dinner. This is where I set them off to play amongst themselves.

Of course, the next few hours are full of 13 year old instigating the 3 year old and the 3 year old pushing and shoving down the 1 year old followed by tons of yelling, screaming and crying. On and on it goes until around 8pm when the two little ones are in bed and I can enjoy a bit of piece and quiet. I then go to bed only to wake up several times a night to my teething 1 year old. I wake up the next morning and the cycle begins again. My how wonderful raising three boys are!
