Well I’m Wembley-Whelmed!

So the new Wembley Stadium is FINALLY completed and undergoing its safety certification checks.  Forgive me if I’m not chanting “Go Wembley” from one of the 2618 public toilet facilities but I think that £800 million to create one arena where thousands of people can pay mega-amounts to watch overpaid footballers and singers perform is a big much.

We have a huge number of homeless people across the UK €? what could a tiny proportion of that £800 million have meant to the organizations who are trying to help these people get back on their feet.  Oh don’t tell me that they are there because they’re junkies and alcoholics – maybe back in the day that was true, but these days often the difference between them and us is a 1% interest rise on our already over-inflated mortgages!  Many of our country’s homeless need no more than a little financial help with a bit of human compassion and support to help them back on their feet.  Similarly, we say we can’t improve our health service ……or our education system …….But if we must spend this money on sports – why not give our athletes, and the new generation of athletes that will take their place, better facilities and trainers so that the country as a whole can benefit from the money through national pride as more of our athletes compete and win on a level playing field with countries who really take care of their athletes.

The new Wembley stadium is all very well and it looks pretty as stadiums go,  but for what it’s cost – and the ridiculous time it took to build - it ought to.  I’m not saying that we shouldn’t have a high quality sports stadium in which to host international events.  I just think that in a country where so many projects that would benefit more people are crying out for cash, it was too high a price to pay for what’s basically a posh football field!

At last progress on the site.Well this is what I'm going to change next the eyelid surgery pages
