Diana inquest to be heard by jury

It's taken 10 years but finally, after numerous attempts, Mohamed Al Fayed has final got his way and not only won the right to inquests into the deaths of his son, Dodi, and Princess Diana following their car crash in Paris in 1997, but also into how they will be conducted.

Initially Baroness Butler-Sloss, the Deputy Royal Corner, had ruled that she was sit alone during the inquests.  However, both the BBC (see http://news.Bbc.Co.Uk/2/hi/in_depth/6411091.Stm) and Sky News (see http://news.Sky.Com/skynews/article/0,,30000-1253884,00.Html) are reporting today that 3 judges at the High Court have seen the light and agreed that the inquests should be heard by a jury.

Although it is unlikely that these latest developments, in what has already been a long drawn out process, will speed things up any, hopefully this should at least go some way to meeting the wishes of the Princess, who have gone on record as saying they want to see a "prompt, fair and transparent" trial.

We'll just have to wait and see whether or not the same will apply to Al Fayed.

At last progress on the site.
